Echo Park : Women’s Shelter Gets $3,000
An Echo Park shelter for homeless women received $3,000 Tuesday from a defendant in a slumlord case.
Wen H. Hsiao of Palos Verdes Estates was ordered to make the contribution as a condition of his probation after he pleaded no contest in January to 10 violations of various health, fire and building and safety codes at the 265-room Pacific Grand Hotel at 416 S. Spring St. in Los Angeles.
Los Angeles City Atty. James Hahn presented the check to Sister Julia Mary, head of the Good Shepherd Home for Homeless Women.
