Residents can haul their old sofas, tires and broken refrigerators out to the curb during the city’s annual cleanup week May 3-7.
Since the 1960s, the city has set aside one week for residents to discard large household items that usually require special permits. During the first week of May, residents can put the items on the curb on their regular garbage pickup day.
“People can put out practically anything,” city spokesman Bill Schlapper said. “It’s just a chance for people to clean out their garages.”
The city won’t pick up a few items, including large auto parts and dirt.
