Electric Car Converter Will Open Facility in Watts: Solar Electric Engineering Inc., a Northern California company that converts gasoline-powered cars to run on electricity, announced that it would open a division in Watts, with the goal of producing 50 vehicles a month. The facility, Electricar Los Angeles, is being launched as part of the Rebuild L.A. project to create new jobs in southern Los Angeles. Solar Electric, based in Santa Rosa, is now the nation’s largest producer of electric cars.
