Muddying Things Up in NCAA Tournament

In a letter to Viewpoint on March 27, Joe Bleeden stated that the Bruins needed a coach whose team is disciplined enough not to blow a 19-point lead.

It appears that a couple of other coaches in the tournament (John Chaney of Temple and Bob Huggins of Cincinnati) are in the same boat. Their teams also lacked that discipline. Are they also poor coaches?

If Mr. Bleeden would care to look back, even John Wooden’s team of 1974 couldn’t hold a seven-point lead in overtime against North Carolina State in the NCAA semifinal game. Does that mean that Wooden wasn’t a good coach?

Jim Harrick has a good record, but Bruin fans really want a national championship every year. That is not possible.
