Marsh Bird Walk--The Sea & Sage chapter of the National Audubon Society is hosting monthly bird-watching walks at the San Joaquin Wildlife Sanctuary, which is next to its Audubon House. The next walk will be April 11 at 9 a.m.

A wide variety of upland, marsh and open water bird species are currently in residence at the area.

To reach the Audubon House, where the walk will start, take the San Diego Freeway to the Jamboree Road exit, head south. Turn left at Michelson Drive, and then make a right at the second signal onto Irvine Ranch Water District property. Follow the paved road and “Duck Club” signs to the house.

Children’s Program--The Oak Canyon Nature Center in Anaheim will sponsor a parent/child workshop entitled “Wild Spaces Are Vital Places” on Saturday.

A hike, crafts and a learning project are planned for the session.

The program will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday. It is free and open to children ages 6 to 10 and their parents.

The center is at 6700 Walnut Canyon Road, Anaheim.

To reach the nature center, take the Riverside Freeway to the Imperial Highway exit. Go south to Nohl Ranch Road. Turn left and travel about three miles to Walnut Canyon Road, and turn left again. Pass the Anaheim Hills Golf Course; the nature center is at the end of the road. Parking is on the left.
