MOORPARK : Reward Offered in Theft of Shop Tools
The Ventura County Crime Stoppers Program is offering up to $1,000 for information that helps identify who broke into a Moorpark business, stole tools and equipment and vandalized vehicles.
The crime occurred the night of March 17 or early March 18, according to a prepared release.
After prying open a steel door on a Muranaka Farms workshop at 10765 Los Angeles Ave., the thieves took hand tools belonging to several employees, two half-ton hydraulic floor jacks, an electric grinder and other supplies, according to the release. The items were worth about $7,600, Ventura County Sheriff’s Sgt. Kitty Hoberg said Friday.
“You have your private mechanics that are in there scratching out a living, they have their tools stored in this workshop thinking they’re going to be OK, and then someone breaks in and steals their wherewithal to make a living,” Hoberg said.
The thieves also broke the steering column of a pickup parked in the workshop yard in an attempt to steal it and smashed the windshield of another pickup, taking a 40-channel citizens-band radio from the cab.
Anyone with information on the crime should contact Crime Stoppers at 805-494-TALK.
