Janet Evans cruised to an easy victory in the women’s 1,500-meter freestyle for her 33rd national title on the final day of competition in the National Swimming Championships. Evans was timed in 16 minutes 16.38 seconds in taking over third place on the career title list. Tracy Caulkins won 48 national titles and Johnny Weissmuller won 36.
