Buckley on the Catholic Church
Buckley has, of course, gotten right to the point. The crimes do not, as such, constitute an indictment of the Catholic Church. It is rather the institution’s reaction to the revelation of the priest’s activities that is unforgivable.
In light of the Pope’s silence on this matter, I find the notion that the Pope provides the faithful with a bulwark of moral leadership to be nothing more than a cruel hoax.
