SHERMAN OAKS : De Niro Has No Obligation to Support Singer’s Child

Actor Robert De Niro has no obligation to pay child support for the daughter of a Sherman Oaks nightclub singer who contended that he acted like a father to the child, a judge ruled Monday.

Superior Court Judge James Endman dismissed claims by Helena Lisandrello that De Niro was “a putative father” to the woman’s 10-year-old daughter, said the actor’s attorney, Ronald Anteau. Lisandrello’s attorney, Marvin Mitchelson, was unavailable for comment.

Lisandrello said she had a three-year relationship with De Niro that resulted in her daughter’s birth in 1982. But three court-ordered blood tests have shown De Niro is not the biological father. Lisandrello contended in her court action that De Niro owed child support anyway because he told Nina that he was her father and treated her like a daughter.
