De Niro the Monster: He’s already portrayed a monster of sorts in “This Boy’s Life,” which opens Friday. Now Robert De Niro has agreed to take on one of literature’s most famous monster roles in a new film of the Gothic epic “Frankenstein.” The remake of the film adaptation of Mary Shelley’s popular novel will be directed by Kenneth Branagh, who will play Dr. Frankenstein.
