Now the Sun: The Seal Beach Journal changed its name to the Seal Beach Sun as of April 1. Its sister newspapers, the Huntington Harbour-Sun Journal and the Rossmoor-Los Alamitos Journal, have also dropped the word journal in favor of sun .

Publisher Alan Newman said the names now match those of other newspapers owned by parent company Independent News Corp. in West Warwick, R.I.

The company purchased the three weeklies in September, 1991, through its West Coast Community Newspapers subsidiary. Newman said the three newspapers have a combined circulation of 28,000.
