Samuel Epstein of Pasadena will receive the Wollaston Medal from the Geological Society in a ceremony June 9 in London. This medal is awarded to promote research on the mineral structure of Earth.

Epstein is a member of the National Academy of Sciences and a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. He has also received the Goldschmidt Medal from the Geochemical Society, and the Arthur L. Day Medal from the Geological Society of America.
