Focus on Pickets Diverts Attention From Issue
I am writing to let you know that I agree with one major point of your article but disagree with a few others.
I agree that no one should be threatened. Verbal assault should be treated as serious and prosecuted regardless of the character of the person being assaulted.
But the fact is that Americans have freedom of speech and as long as they do it in a way that violates no laws, it is their right. These particular protesters have done nothing illegal that I can see in your article; they only take an unpopular stance. Surely the First Amendment protects them as it protects you.
Under the current Administration you have no reason to fear that abortion will be curtailed. So why not back off these people exercising their rights?
