A Pajama Party for Risers and Shiners

Fashion doesn’t have to stop during slumber hours. Saks Fifth Avenue proved this point at a pajama party at the Newport Dunes Resort’s Back Bay Cafe on Saturday. The event benefited the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

On a sun-kissed morning overlooking the Back Bay, close to 300 guests, many pajama’d, brunched while a jazz trio performed and volunteer models casually paraded by tables in the latest in sleep wear.

Among the lingerie looks seen: Summer holds roses and other full-flowered buds on nightgowns and cover-ups from Natori. And a navy, white and gold nautical theme prevailed on whale-printed boxers by Joe Boxer, a camisole and tap pant sleep set from Susan Dunn and nighties from Carole Hochman and Valentino.

Black always makes a statement for night, especially detailed with color, such as florals on ebony chiffon chemises from Natori or the fanciful designs on Nicole Miller’s silk boxers.

For the June bride, Christian Dior presents luxurious silk ivory gowns and matching peignoir. Men, too, can lounge in night wear made of luscious fabrics, such as Saks’ berry-colored sets or rich terry robes from Ralph Lauren Polo.

Most of the guests took a more practical, less glamorous route, appearing in cute two-piece cotton or flannel sets (the latter proved too warm for the sunny day). The event raised more than $5,000 for CFF.
