Here are some numbers for voter information. One note of caution: The number is frequently busy, so be patient and leave yourself plenty of time: ABSENTEE BALLOTING: Applications for an absentee ballot are on the back of sample ballots. The deadline to request one by mail from the city election’s office is April 13. Ballots must be received by the city by 8 p.m. on April 20. Here is the number to call for applications. Otherwise, call the city election’s office Monday through Friday (8a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) to find where your polling place is located and for general information. (213) 485-3581. HOURS OF VOTING: 7a.m. to 8 p.m.. Tuesday, April 20. SAMPLE BALLOTS: Call the city election’s division of the City Clerk’s office if you have not received your sample ballot. To request a ballot in Spanish, Tagalog, Vietnamese, Japanese, Korean or Chinese, call the city election division at (800) 994-VOTE. COPIES OF MEASURES: A summary and full text of each city measure is included in your sample ballot. VIOLATIONS: Call the city election’s office; violations include seeing someone voting twice, someone voting in place of someone else or persons soliciting or attempting to purchase votes near polling area. HOW TO REGISTER FOR NEXT TIME IF YOU MISSED IT THIS TIME: The deadline to register for thiselection has passed. But the deadline to register for the general election is May 10. You can register at any post office, library, fire department or motor vehicle department office. You should also re-register if you want to change your party affiliation, are moving or changing your name.
