La Opinion Endorses Woo in Race for Mayor
Bolstering his campaign to portray himself as a consensus builder, Los Angeles mayoral candidate Michael Woo has picked up the endorsement of La Opinion.
In an editorial in today’s edition, the Spanish-language newspaper calls Woo, a city councilman, the candidate “most able to unify” the city, said Rafael Buitrago, editorial page editor.
“We remember that Woo was the only one who confronted (former Police Chief) Daryl Gates in the council,” he said. The paper also praises Woo for coming to the aid of street vendors.
Latinos account for about 40% of Los Angeles’ population but only 11% of the city’s registered voters.
