Clinton Summit With Yeltsin

A few years ago the Soviet Russia was our worst enemy, costing us billions in defense and contributing to our mammoth debt. And now that they have gotten themselves into a mess we are going to give them billions more just so they behave. This is just like Jimmy Carter with his Camp David accords when he agreed to give Israel and Egypt each $3 billion if they would just quit fighting. I suppose we are still doing this. But we will never learn.

Russia has something that we can use--gold and oil--so why not agree to buy them so that we would not increase our outlandish debt. We cannot tolerate Carter’s brand of statesmanship. It is time we gave some consideration to our need here and not give away any more free gifts that are seldom appreciated.
