Pratt & Whitney to Cut 2,300 More Jobs: Pratt & Whitney, a unit of United Technologies Corp., said it will cut 9,000 jobs in Connecticut by the end of 1994, 2,300 more job cuts than the jet engine maker previously planned. Pratt also intends to close 2 1/2 manufacturing plants in the state, although final details and schedules haven’t been determined. The company, which has been hurt by a sharp decline in the aerospace industry, is in discussions with state and union representatives on alternatives and partnerships that could limit Connecticut’s job loss to 6,700.
