PLATFORM : Troubled Youths Are Everybody’s Problems

Where there had been fistfights and one or two (teen-agers) carrying a knife, now kids are carrying guns to school.

We have to get involved and do something. We keep criticizing these kids and not doing anything so the problem just keeps growing like a disease. Somebody has to start taking responsibility.

Give them something different where they can express themselves. A lot of these kids are very talented and they’re not able to show these talents.

I have a stake in this. My kids are out there going to school with these kids. Something has to be done to reach these kids. I’ve had objections from my family: “What are you doing out there with these gang members?” But now my 17-year-old son is helping out. He’s starting to realize, “Maybe I can help.”

You’re going to find a lot of people out there who say, “It’s not my problem.” When does it become your problem? When somebody comes by and shoots you?
