SANTA ANA : Health Expo Will Include Free Tests

As part of the regional Health Fair Expo ‘93, residents may receive free medical screenings Saturday at several locations in Santa Ana.

Sponsored by the American Red Cross and the Hospital Council of Southern California, the health fair will provide tests for heart disease, high blood pressure, vision and hearing. The one-day screenings are part of a 10-day fair that begins today.

The city Recreation Department will offer medical tests and free tetanus and pneumonia shots at the Corbin Center, 2215 W. McFadden Ave. Cardiovascular exams, counseling and referrals will also be available from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., said spokeswoman Carolyn Jackson.

Health fair exams will also be offered at Jerome Park, at McFadden and Center Street, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Registered dietitians will offer advice on nutrition at Willard Intermediate School, 1342 N. Ross St., from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Santa Ana Unified School District nurses will be available to answer health-related questions.

A podiatrist, representatives from Mothers Against Drunk Driving and local health care agencies will also offer information, district spokeswoman Diane Thomas said. Santa Ana police and firefighters will offer tips on crime and fire prevention.

In addition, the Spurgeon Memorial United Methodist Church will provide medical screenings April 24 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The church is at 1025 Memory Lane.
