SEMINAR: A seminar titled “Winning the Battle...

SEMINAR: A seminar titled “Winning the Battle for the 21st Century,” will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. today at the First Southern Baptist Church, 13261 Glenoaks Blvd., Sylmar. Marshall Foster, founder of the Mayflower Institute and a syndicated radio host, will be the featured speaker. Admission is $10 per adult or $20 per family.

MUSICAL: Godspell, a musical about the life of Jesus, will be presented by Reflections Theatrical Company at 3 p.m. today at the Glendale Seventh-day Adventist Church, 610 East California Ave. Admission is free.

DEDICATION: Members of the Toluca Lake United Methodist Church, 4301 Cahuenga Blvd., North Hollywood, will dedicate a stained glass window during the 10:30 a.m. Sunday church service. Called the Old Testament Prophecy Window, it was funded by a memorial to church leader Al Smith. The Rev. Sandy Liddell, the church’s pastor, has asked the Rev. Matt Sargeant, former church pastor, to be the guest preacher for the special service. Child care is available.

TREE PLANTING: In six weeks, the children’s department at the First United Methodist Church of North Hollywood, collected 12,000 pennies to pay for a carrotwood tree that will be planted at the church. The tree-planting ceremony is scheduled for 11:45 a.m. Sunday at the church, located at 4832 Tujunga Ave.

SPEAKER: Ellen Kamentsky, a former staff missionary with Jews for Jesus, will speak about her experiences at 7:30 p.m. Monday at Adat Ari El, 12020 Burbank Blvd., North Hollywood. Her lecture is being sponsored by Jews for Judaism, a national organization aimed at counteracting assimilation, cults and missionary recruitment.

REMEMBRANCE: Nine Protestant churches and three Catholic parishes have joined two Jewish temples in Burbank to produce the 6th Annual Days of Remembrance, under the sponsorships of the Burbank Human Relations Council. The event will feature concentration camp survivors and liberators and a memorial candle lighting ceremony. It will be held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church, 700 N. Glenoaks Blvd., Burbank. Admission is free.

AIDS WORKSHOP: A workshop titled, “The HIV/AIDS Crisis and the Churches’ Response,” will run from 7 to 10 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 24 at the Glendale First United Methodist Church, 134 N. Kenwood Ave. Cost of the event is $28 per person. Reservations can be made by calling (818) 243-2105.

WOMEN’S EVENT: Gloria Landman, who is active with Women’s Ministries at Grace Community Church, will present “The Totally Beautiful Woman” from 9 a.m. to noon April 24 at the church located at 13248 Roscoe Blvd., Sun Valley. Cost is $7 per person, which includes a continental breakfast. Tickets must be purchased in advance. Reservations can be made by calling (818) 782-5920.

HONOR: A dinner to celebrate 30 years of dedicated service by Cantor Maurice Glick will be held at 5:30 p.m. April 25 at the Universal City Hilton. In 1963, Glick began serving Temple Ner Tamid, which merged with Temple Ner Maarav in 1986. Many of Glick’s students who were Bar or Bat Mitzvah during his time at the synagogue will be at the event. Tickets are $125 each. Reservations, due by Wednesday, can be made by calling (818) 345-7833.

DINNER: A Sabbath dinner for the Moses program for Jews with disabilities, their families and friends, will be offered at 6 p.m. April 30 at Temple Beth Hillel, 12326 Riverside Drive, North Hollywood.
