Emulex Corp. Hires Chief Executive, President for Network Systems Unit

Computer peripherals maker Emulex Corp. announced Monday that it has hired Paul F. Folino to head one of its divisions.

He is the former president and chief operating officer of Austin, Tex.-based Thomas-Conrad Corp., which makes products to connect networks of personal computers to allow them to communicate with each other.

Folino, a 20-year industry veteran, was selected as president and chief executive of Emulex’s network systems division. He was also appointed as a member of the board of directors of Emulex.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in social sciences from Central Washington University and a master’s degree in business administration from Seattle University.

Emulex is in the process of spinning off its micro devices division and becoming two, publicly traded companies. Currently, the company supplies devices that allow computers to connect to printers and data storage devices through its Emulex Micro Devices Corp. subsidiary. It supplies computer and network enhancement products, providing network access and storage management, through its Emulex Network Systems Division.

Emulex stock closed at $5.875 Monday on the NASDAQ exchange, down 37.5 cents. Since December, the stock has fallen from a 52-week high of $10.50.
