Mistaken Identity

I think Guillermo Gomez-Pena, the father of the little boy who was reported to the police because two women thought he had kidnaped the boy, should keep in mind that these were concerned citizens doing their duty.

If he would realize that the boy could have been kidnaped by someone (it’s always a possibility) would he not be eternally grateful for the quick action of the police? He states, “I become a racial stereotype because of the color of my skin.” Perhaps this is true. However, nothing should be said to discourage people from being alert and reporting their suspicions to the police. We need the involvement of our citizens and the police as a crime deterrent.
