OXNARD : Shop Manager, 27, Joins Planning Panel
The Oxnard City Council on Tuesday elected the manager of a flower shop to the city’s Planning Commission.
Edward M. Castillo, 27, manager of Conroy’s Flowers on Oxnard Boulevard, replaces Sonny Okada, who was appointed to fill a temporary vacancy on the commission in September.
Castillo will serve a full four-year term.
The council vote was 3 to 2, with council members Michael Plisky and Bedford Pinkard voting for Anthony Wilson.
Councilman Tom Holden lauded Castillo’s small-business experience.
“I am looking for his small-business experience to add an extra dimension to the Planning Commission,” Holden said.
