Diceon Electronics Inc.: The Irvine manufacturer of circuit boards and back panels posted a loss of $8.4 million, or $1.63 a share, for its second fiscal quarter.

That compared to a loss of $3 million, or 58 cents a share, for the same period a year earlier. Sales for the quarter ended April 3 were down 10% to $23.3 million from $25.9 million.

Diceon attributed the latest loss to the continuing slowdown of business from the telecommunications sector and the closure of its Chatsworth operating facility.

For the first half of its fiscal year, the company lost $10 million, or $1.95 a share. That compared to a loss of $5.2 million, or $1 a share, for the same period a year earlier.

Six-month sales were $52.1 million, up from $51.8 million.
