Record Seizure of Cocaine Is Reported in Mexico

MEXICO CITY —
Federal agents intercepted and searched a trailer-truck near the U.S. border and seized 7.3 metric tons of cocaine neatly packed in cans marked chili peppers, the attorney general’s office said Thursday.
The raid--the biggest seizure of smuggled cocaine in Mexico, officials said--occurred Wednesday on the Tecate-La Rumorosa road in Baja California, the office said. The driver of the truck was arrested.
