WASHINGTON : Back to the Table
Mideast peace talks reopen here today amid expressions of cautious optimism all around and U.S. assurances that it will be a fair broker between Israel and its Arab neighbors.
Whether the optimism is of the ritual variety or something more remains to be seen. However, it does appear that all sides--Israel, Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, and the Palestinians--want at least to keep the separate but parallel negotiations alive.
