Formation Agency Sings a New Tune as Districts Draw Criticism

In response to Santa Margarita Water District Chairman Don Schone’s letter to the editor (April 18) stating that the reason the board did not fire district manager Walter Knitz and his assistant Michael Lord was that they were afraid the district would be sued just doesn’t hold water: If Mr. Schone and his fellow board members had been concerned for the well-being of ratepayers, they would have done a better job in the first place and not let these people engage in a spending spree at the ratepayers’ expense.
