I believe the state is cutting on the wrong side of the budget. Cutting back on education is going to hurt this state. The city college has raised tuition from $6 (a credit) to $10 and now they propose to raise it to $30.

I have to work to go to school. If they increase the amount, I won’t be able to study anymore. People like me go to a two-year college because a four-year college like UCLA is too expensive. (A big increase) means the people at the bottom of the pyramid won’t be able to study any more.

Right now I’m taking 12 units which cost me about $120. At $30 a unit, that (would be) about $400. That’s a lot of money. That’s not including books and labs. It’s just too expensive. I won’t be able to make it.
