Missing some antique silver dollars from the mid-1800s and early 1900s? How about a pocket watch or your class ring?

The Police Department will hold a public viewing May 11 in an attempt to reunite these and other stolen items with their owners, Sgt. Jerry Holloway said.

Police said they found dozens of stolen valuables Monday when they were called to a home in the 100 block of 21st Street after a neighbor reported hearing shots fired.

Douglas Harris Reinhardt, 31, was arrested on suspicion of possession of stolen property and possession of controlled substance--three ounces of methamphetamine--for sale.

Among the items found were: antique silver dollars from the mid-1800s and early 1900s; Disneyland collectible coins with serial numbers; a bronze, brass and ivory statue on a bronze pedestal; numerous antique pocket watches; several class rings; men’s and women’s rings; U.S. mint coin collections; a serialized silver bar, and construction tools.

Holloway said police did not know when the items were stolen.

In order to recover them, owners must present a police report at the viewing.

“They can’t just come down and say, ‘That’s mine,”’ Holloway said.

The viewing will take place from noon to 4 p.m. at the Costa Mesa Police Department, 99 Fair Drive.
