Gulfstream to Cut Back as Plane Sales Slow: Business jet manufacturer Gulfstream Aerospace Corp. said it will cut as many as 500 jobs because plane sales have slowed to a trickle. The privately held Savannah, Ga.-based company will extend early retirement offers, mainly to salaried employees, in hopes of reducing its staff of 4,800 by about 10%, a company spokesman said. Jobs will be cut at the company’s Savannah headquarters and at smaller facilities in Long Beach and Oklahoma City. Gulfstream designs, builds and sells large business jets used by government officials and corporate executives.
