Warming Up to Allies: Talk about post-Cold War cooperation.

Rockwell International Corp.’s division in Anaheim has delivered a global positioning receiver that will be used in a German environmental research satellite to be launched by a Russian rocket in June.

The Rockwell receiver, SpaceNav V, is designed to send data back to a control station on the satellite’s position, velocity, and the precise timing of its movements. The research satellite is going to track herds of animals and provide a communications relay to an outpost in the Arctic circle, said Fred Sheldon, director of guidance, navigation and control products at the Rockwell Defense Electronics division.

The Seal Beach-based parent company also announced that it has completed its previously announced acquisition of the former automotive parts plant of Skoda Mlada Boleslav in the Czech Republic.

The new company, Rockwell BCS-Liberec a.s., will build car window and seat parts.
