Datron Systems to Move Main Office to Escondido

Share

Datron Systems Inc., a Simi Valley producer of satellite communications equipment and high-frequency radios, will relocate its corporate headquarters to Escondido by Sept. 1.

But the company says the move will not affect its Simi Valley manufacturing plant and the 180 employees there.

Datron announced in March that its president and chief executive, David A. Derby, was taking on added duties as president of TransWorld Communications Inc., a Datron subsidiary in Escondido. He assumed the post after Gary Gist resigned.

The company now says Derby will be joined in Escondido by Thomas V. Baker, Datron’s chief financial officer, and Penny Felicioni, assistant corporate secretary.

“Basically, the move is a matter of convenience,” Baker said. He noted that the TransWorld unit is larger than the one in Simi Valley.

Datron recently closed a plant in Camarillo, consolidating that operation with the one in Simi Valley.
