Veterans Benefits

Share

In World War II, I was in the infantry, Patton’s Third Army, fighting across France, Germany and into Austria. We were promised benefits such as health care, etc. In the early 1980s my health care at Loma Linda VA medical center was canceled, no reason given. On April, 1992, the Veterans Administration in Los Angeles canceled my $87 monthly pension. Now they want the money back to Jan. 1, 1990.

I thought we were fighting for our country. I turned out it was for the overpaid politicians and all their “perks” in Washington.

I’ve boxed up my battle stars, medals and flag, and will mail them to the VA If there is ever another draft, my four grandsons, and my three great-grandsons, based on my experience, will never be as stupid as I was.

After 3 1/2 years of harassment from the VA, I have no patriotism left.
