Upcoming Fare: Nigel Hamilton’s book “JFK: Reckless Youth” will be adapted as an ABC miniseries for next season by “China Beach” co-creator William Broyles. The project deals with the young John F. Kennedy’s relationship with his parents and siblings, college experiences, involvement with several women, political philosophy and wartime heroics as the PT 109 commander. ABC has not given any details about casting or an air date. . . . Other upcoming ABC miniseries include adaptations of fictional works by Stephen King and John Jakes, both of whose works have drawn huge audiences in previous network adaptations. The network will devote eight hours to King’s “The Stand,” about an apocalyptic confrontation between good and evil; and the Northern and Southern family members from Jakes’ “North and South” novels will be taken in a new “Heaven and Hell” to post-Civil War days of Reconstruction and into the Indian territories.
