Cataract Surgery and Quality of Life

Sure, let’s save Medicare and the Clinton Administration a bundle by restricting cataract surgery and forcing the elderly with cataracts to be required “the use of strong bifocals, magnification, appropriate lighting and other visual aids” and not allow them “to go out as much at night.” Maybe the next suggestion from our government and the so-called “health care experts” will be to fully restrict the activities of the elderly or better yet, why don’t we “just float them out on the ice” and we can really save on Medicare costs.

If the government wishes to insert itself into health care, then it will have to take on all the burdens and responsibilities (including economic ones) that come with it, including providing for quality of life.
