The City Council and Chamber of Commerce are offering an $11,000 reward for information leading to arrests and convictions in the slaying of a doughnut shop owner who was shot after apparently encountering burglars.

The City Council voted 5 to 0 Thursday night to provide a $10,000 reward along with a $1,000 offer from the Chamber of Commerce in the April 30 death of Souy Cheng Hear, 43. Hear owned a doughnut shop in the 2200 block of East Palmdale Boulevard.

Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies said Hear was shot once in the head early that morning after apparently hearing glass breaking next door at a liquor store and walking outside to investigate. The store owner reported that a glass door was broken and several cartons of cigarettes were stolen.
