NATION IN BRIEF : FLORIDA : Youth Gets 20 Years in Tourist’s Shooting

A 15-year-old entered a surprise guilty plea halfway through his trial in Miami and was sentenced to 20 years in prison for an attack that paralyzed a German tourist. Antwan Brown was sentenced as an adult by Dade County Circuit Judge Rodolfo Sorrando, who accepted the plea bargain. Brown pleaded guilty to one count each of attempted first-degree murder, attempted armed burglary and attempted armed robbery in a plea bargain in which he avoided a potential life sentence.
