Baseball Dismisses CBS Offer

The owners of the 28 major league baseball teams have rejected an offer from CBS to extend the network’s current broadcast contract, a spokesman for Major League Baseball said Friday.
The ruling executive council sent clubs the required 10-day notice needed before a vote. Owners controlling the negotiations said they will press for approval of a joint venture with ABC and NBC, which would prevent fans from watching all games of the league championship series.
