Fighting broke out again Saturday in two key Bosnian trouble spots, a U.N. military spokesman said.

Cmdr. Barry Frewer said Bosnian Serbs, supported by tanks, artillery, mortars and heavy machine guns, continued to attack Bosnian government forces clinging to the outskirts of the strategic northern town of Brcko.

Both Muslim-controlled Sarajevo radio and Serb radio reported intense fighting there throughout the afternoon. The two sides accused each other of mounting the attacks.

Muslim-controlled Sarajevo radio said the Serbs had deployed 32 tanks in their offensive in the Brcko area and Muslim forces had destroyed five of them.

Brcko is of great strategic importance to the Serbs since it commands the narrowest part of a key supply route linking Serb territories in eastern and western Bosnia.

Frewer also said that Bosnian Croat forces using mortars, artillery and multiple-rocket launchers attacked Muslim units in the southwestern city of Mostar, where the two sides began fighting a week ago.

A Spanish U.N. peacekeeper was wounded by a mine near Mostar. A Spanish officer was fatally wounded last week.
