NEWPORT BEACH : Golf Tournament to Benefit Heart Assn.

More than 100 golfers will tee off simultaneously today to start the Second Annual American Heart Assn. Golf Classic at Pelican Hill.

It is hoped that the tournament, which will be held at the Pelican Hill Golf Club, will raise about $30,000 for the heart association. After the tournament, an awards banquet and silent auction are scheduled for 6 p.m. at Le Meridien Hotel, 4500 MacArthur Blvd.

Those interested in competing in the golf tournament can call event organizer Joyce Lowder at (714) 833-7617 or show up at 9:30 a.m. at the golf course, at 22651 Pelican Hill Road.

There is a $275 entry fee, which will be donated to the American Heart Assn.
