Florida businessman Les Alexander increased his offer from $81 million to $85 million to buy the Houston Rockets from Charlie Thomas, but part owners of the team might try to block the sale.
Thomas, who controls the team, said the latest offer from Alexander nullified a chance for his partners to purchase the team. But Tilman Fertitta, who has joined businessman John Moores in an attempt to match Alexander’s offer, said that he is still in the picture.
Thomas issued a statement saying Alexander’s new offer “removes all obstacles to the sale of the club. It’s a done deal.”
