BREA : Schools to Honor Four Employees

Share

Carol Amsler is known for putting a card or flower on the desk of a new Brea Olinda Unified School District employee as a first-day welcome. Brenda Thorpe is the district’s central kitchen manager, but she works right along with the crews to prepare lunch for students.

Amsler and Thorpe, along with Rita Jones and Dean Lentini, have been named district employees of the year.

Amsler has worked at the district office for 13 years. She is usually at her desk before 8 a.m. and stays past 5 p.m., just one of the reasons district officials describe her as conscientious, professional and loyal.

Thorpe’s key role in students’ lives became even more important this year when eating off campus was banned at Brea Olinda High School. Each day, 1,500 students eat lunch at school.

Jones is a member of the district’s clerical staff. She manages the high school ride-share program and plays host at parties for student government. Lentini has worked as a district support staff member for 11 years.

They will receive plaques at today’s Board of Education meeting at 7:30 p.m. in city council chambers, 1 Civic Center Circle.
