SAN FERNANDO : Hearing Planned on Higher Sewer Charge

Share

A public hearing has been scheduled July 19 on the San Fernando City Council’s proposal to add a $32 annual charge to all properties for sewer improvements.

On Monday, the council set the hearing and ordered notices mailed to owners of all parcels in the city of the new charge.

“This is a formal action that allows us to send notices to every affected property owner,” said Mike Drake, city public works director. “It advises them that we’re proposing this.”

The charge will be added to property tax bills. Proceeds will help the city pay for $8.3 million needed to purchase an additional 1.2 million gallons per day of sewer capacity from the city of Los Angeles.

San Fernando contracts with Los Angeles to have its sewage treated at Hyperion.
