ORANGE : 10% Hike in Water Bills Begins July 1

Share

City residents and businesses can expect to see a 10% increase in their water bills beginning July 1.

The City Council approved the increase Tuesday, citing higher water production costs from the Metropolitan Water District and the Orange County Water District being passed onto local governments, causing a $1.1-million deficit in the city’s water fund budget for fiscal year 1993-1994.

As a result of the higher rates, the average household water bill should increase by $1.60 per month said Joel Wright, the city’s water manager.

The city last raised water rates in 1991 when the council approved an 18% fee hike.
