The Angels are prepared to draft left-handed starter Brian Anderson of Wright State in Ohio with their first-round selection, third overall, of the June free agent draft, according to sources familiar with their decision.

Anderson, according to scouts, could be ready to pitch in the major leagues by the end of the 1994 season. He is expected to command a signing bonus of about $1 million.

The Seattle Mariners, who have the first selection, are expected to draft pitcher Darren Dreifort of Wichita State. The Dodgers privately say they will use the No. 2 pick for high school shortstop Alex Rodriguez.

Anderson experienced tendinitis at mid-season, but since has had no problems, evidenced by his 9-1 record and 0.99 earned-run average.

The Angels were briefed Wednesday afternoon by the Major League Players Assn., and then submitted secret ballots on whether they want Manager Buck Rodgers, the coaching staff and training staff to continue receiving their full licensing shares. . . . Michelle Langston, the wife of Angel starter Mark Langston, gave birth Wednesday to a baby girl, Gabriella Quinn.
