West Los Angeles : AIDS Mural Project
Search for Alliance, a nonprofit AIDS research organization, has commissioned artist Russell John Carlton to paint a mural on a wall along the Santa Monica Freeway between Overland and National boulevards in West Los Angeles.
The project hopes to generate money for AIDS research through sponsorship by individuals and corporations. Donations can be made in increments of square inches ($1), square half-feet ($36), square feet ($144) and square yards ($1,296).
The mural will use symbolism from a variety of ancient and present-day cultures to depict the quest for knowledge, Carlton said.
