Postal Workers Thank Residents

Share

We, the employees of the Dana Point post office, would like to thank all those in the community who offered their heartfelt condolences over the tragic loss of our co-worker, mail carrier Charles Barbagallo.

We also appreciate your understanding and support for those of us left emotionally wounded by this traumatic event. Your encouraging words and thoughtful actions have helped us through this trying time as we attempt to return to our working routine.

Of the many items sent to our office, one of the most touching has to be the crayon drawing of Charlie, complete with his signature ponytail, created by the schoolchildren of R.H. Dana Elementary School. Across the top, they wrote: “We Miss You, Charlie!” It was quite poignant, in view of the fact that he had a special rapport with the children, especially the kids with exceptional needs.

Like the kids said, we are all going to miss Charlie. It is going to take a long time to deal with what happened. Yet, your expressions of sympathy and support have been a true comfort to us, and in time, we will heal.
