Message in Bottle Gets Answer--30 Years Later
Anne-Merete Christensen finally got an answer to the letter requesting a pen pal that she put inside a bottle and cast upon the waves as a 13-year-old--from an 8-year-old Swedish boy nearly 30 years later.
Otto Fransson found the bottle, still intact after bobbing in the Kalmar sound on Sweden’s east coast where Christensen launched it Oct. 18, 1963, while on holiday from Denmark, the Ostra Smaland newspaper reported Saturday.
He wrote to the address she gave, and Christensen, now 43 and married with two children of her own, wrote him back.
“I will call and say hello when we travel to Denmark some time,” Fransson said.
