IN BRIEF : Certificate Can Lower Senior Auto Insurance

A home-study driving course, a project of the state Department of Motor Vehicles, is available by mail to California seniors with good driving records.

Seniors who read the study book and complete a quiz are eligible to receive an official DMV mature driver improvement certificate, which can be submitted to an auto insurance company for a discount of up to 10% on auto premiums for three years.
